Students commencing in Semester 1, who have a commencement date on or after 1 March 2010 are required to attend the Induction in March.

Students commencing candidature after 26 March are required to attend the Induction in July.

All sessions will be held from 8:50am to 1pm.  Students will be advised of the dates and any further details for Induction Programs in the near future.

Students may only attend an alternative session with the prior approval of the Graduate Centre

An online registration form will be available for registration in January 2010.

We have received very positive feedback from students who have attended the Induction in previous years and it is considered an invaluable introduction to life as a research postgraduate at The University of Adelaide.

Each Induction Program is run in two sessions, the first of which introduces students to a range of topics/services including the role of the Adelaide Graduate Centre, expectations of a research student, the role of the supervisor, professional development, research ethics and compliance, student services, computing services and the Postgraduate Students' Association.

In the second session, students are divided into discipline focussed discussion groups where there is an opportunity to hear from and question speakers on issues such as supervision, library services and the trials and tribulations of being a research student.
