Adelaide Graduate Centre Online Induction
For commencing HDR students 2013
The Postgraduate Research Induction provides a valuable orientation to life as a higher degree by research (HDR) student at the University of Adelaide. It is available online to all enrolled research students as a course in MyUni. The online format is designed to provide all research students with timely and flexible access to induction materials and we hope it will be particularly welcome to those who are studying remotely and off-campus.
The Induction is compulsory for commencing research students and must be completed within one month of your enrolment. Once your enrolment form has been processed by the Adelaide Graduate Centre, your enrolment into the MyUni Induction course will be activated within 48 hours through an automated process. Note that during the peak enrolment period (~mid January - end of February), it may take a few days for your enrolment form to be processed, therefore, please allow five working days from lodging your enrolment form with the Graduate Centre for your MyUni course enrolment to be activated. If you are unable to access the Induction after this time, do contact the Adelaide Graduate Centre for advice.
Online Induction Program Content
The Induction will introduce you to a range of topics and services including information on:
- The Adelaide Graduate Centre and the Research Student Handbook,
- Supervision,
- Milestones and timeframes for completion,
- Responsibilities during your candidature,
- Research conduct,
- Training and professional development,
- Student services on campus and resources, and
- Keeping your research on track.
At the end of the Induction you will be asked to complete a quiz on what you have learned. After you have completed the quiz satisfactorily, Graduate Centre staff will record your completion of the Induction milestone.
