International Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Postgraduate Research scholarships are for applicants who wish to undertake full time study in a Masters or Doctorate degree by research. The funding opportunities in this area are limited and therefore extremely competitive.

Below are a variety of scholarships available to international students commencing a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the University of Adelaide. Candidates who have applied for Australian permanent resident status are ineligible to apply for these scholarships.

Where possible application forms are made available once the scholarship is listed as open. Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application where the scholarship is administered by the University.

We strongly recommend that all applicants submit their application and all required documents well before the closing dates listed below.

Adelaide Graduate Fee Scholarships (AGFS)	Closed	Applicants must be completing in 2009 or have completed in 2008 at the University of Adelaide, their four year undergraduate degree including class one honours in a research based honours program or masters degree with a sufficient research component to be approved by the Research Education Development Committee as a degree acceptable for entry to the PhD. ie a Masters degree including a minimum of 12 points of research.	23rd July	31st October	AGFS Scholarship Round
Chilean Bicentennial Fund Scholarships	Open	Students from the Republic of Chile who intend to undertake a Masters by Research or PhD at the University of Adelaide	Ongoing	Ongoing	Applications are made directly to the Government of Chile through Becas Chile.
China Scholarship Council - University of Adelaide Joint Postgraduate Scholarships Program	Open	Students from the People's Republic of China who intend to undertake a PhD at the University of Adelaide.	1st August	31st January	Two stage application process: Initial application to the University of Adelaide. Second stage application to the China Scholarships Council.
Endeavour Awards	Closed	International students undertaking a HDR or Masters by Coursework or Research in any field of study in Australia.	6th April	31st July	Application is submitted online via the Endeavour website. Students who are awarded an Endeavour scholarship are not eligible for University of Adelaide scholarships.
Northcote Graduate Scholarships	Closed	Students from United Kingdom wishing to undertake a Higher Degree at any Australian University.	29th June	28th August	Apply directly to King's College London
Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards (International applicants)	Closed	The top 10 incoming PhD recipients of Endeavour Postgraduate Awards will be awarded the Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Award. Successful candidates will be chosen based on merit from priority countries.	6th April	31st July	Application is submitted online via the Endeavour website. Rio Tinto (NTRB) Scholarships	Closed	Open to lawyers currently working, or interested in working at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) or Native Title Service Porividers (NTSPs).
