Applying for a Postgraduate Research Scholarship for International Students

Each year the University of Adelaide has a Major International Scholarship Round of applications. This is the most effective way to maximise the chances of obtaining an international research scholarship as international students will be considered for every available scholarship for which they are eligible. Up to 35 scholarships are usually offered as part of this round each year.

Applicants should hold at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree. This is a four year degree with a major research project in the final year. Other criteria that will be taken into consideration is undergraduate performance, bachelor and honours awards and scholarships, other postgraduate degrees, publications in internationally refereed journals, the presentation of conference papers and relevant industry experience. Generally scholarship recipients have completed a Masters degree including a significant research component and have several publications and relevant work and research experience.

Incomplete applications at the scholarship application deadline will not be considered for a scholarship.

Applicants who have not satisfied the University of Adelaide's English Language Proficiency Requirements by the scholarship application deadline and/or who are required to complete a Pre-Enrolment English Program (PEP) will not be considered for a scholarship.

Candidates who have applied for Australian permanent resident status will not be considered for Australian government sponsored international scholarships (eg: IPRS), however they will be considered for scholarships sponsored by the University of Adelaide (ASI).

Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their scholarship application by the end of November, following the selection processs.

Some scholarships will also be available at various other times throughout the year and you should visit the University of Adelaide’s Postgraduate International Scholarship website to see what is available at the time you are considering applying for admission.

Closing Date: 31 August. We strongly recommend that all applicants submit their application and all required documentation well before this closing date.

To apply, complete the Postgraduate Research Application Form and indicate your desire to be considered for a scholarship in the Financial Support section of the form.
