DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst - German Academic Exchange Service

Objective
The scheme aims to

• foster research collaborations between Australían researchers from Go8 universities and German
  researchers by supporting exchanges between Australian and German researchers
• result in research outcomes and the exchange of skills and knowledge of mutual benefit to Australia and Germany.

Duration
Exchanges to take place 1 January 2010 - 31 December 2010

Requirements

• Applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents
• Applicants must be employed as academic staff members in a teaching and research or research only role or a PhD student involved in the research project submitted by an eligible staff member at a Go8 University (ANU, University of Adelaide, University of Melbourne, Monash University, UNSW, University of Queensland, University of Sydney, University of Western Austratia)
• Well-defined research proposals necessitating research collaboration between Australian and Germañ researehers
• Preference for projects that facititate exchanges between early career researchers
• The DAAD particularly welcomes applications in the naturalañd engineering sciences

Deadline
The last round (applications for stays in 2010) close on the 30 June 2009.
Please note: To be successful, Australian applicants must ensure that their German collaborators submit a corresponding application with the same tifle to the DAAD in Germany!

Available to full time higher degree by research students from the University of Adelaide who are currently enrolled in a higher degree by research and have completed the Core Component of the Structured Program (CCSP). Applicants must be domestic students, as defined in the Higher Education Sector Act, and have at least 12 months of research candidature tenure remaining. Applicants must not have previously completed any commercialisation training equivalent to the course offering. Applicants must complete the Graduate Certificate within 24 months of commencement and within 6 months of completion of research candidature (whichever is sooner)..

Value: The scholarship includes tuition fees up to the value of $8,500 for four courses in the Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology Commercialisation (this will cover the entire cost of the program), plus scholarship payments to the student of $12,000 in total. This will be paid in instalments of $3,000 on completion of each course within the program.

CTS Scholarship application forms will be available below, when applications are open. A separate application for entry to the Graduate Certificate in Science Commercialisation program must be made directly to ECIC. Applicants must be accepted into the course in order to be eligible for the scholarship
