The late Millie Hay Joyner passed away on 13 February 1993 leaving a will providing
for a number of educational scholarships. Applications are invited for the Joyner
Scholarships in Law, Fine Arts, Medicine and Science tenable at the three South
Australian Universities in 2008. The Scholarships are available to support full-time
study leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Eligibility: Applicants must be graduates or final year undergraduate
students of an Australian university and must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents. Applicants must be acceptable to commence enrolment in a higher degree
by research in 2009.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold or expect to obtain a
First Class Honours degree or equivalent qualification in the disciplines of
Law, Fine Arts, Medicine or Science respectively.
Selection: Applicants will be selected from those applying
for an Australian Postgraduate Award at any of the three South Australian universities
who are eligible under any one of the three categories.
Value: The living allowance for the scholarships will be set
at 10% above the base stipend applying to Australian Postgraduate Awards in
2009 ($20,427 in 2009). Support will continue for up to three years subject
to satisfactory academic progress.
Closing Date: 31 October 2008. The awards are allocated as
part of the Major Round of applications. Please write 'Joyner Scholarship'
in the section marked 'other'. Eligible applications will be forwarded
to the Joyner Scholarships selection committee for consideration.
Applications must be lodged with the University offering the degree in which
the applicant intends to enrol.
