The ACC AustCham Scholarship is a joint initiative developed in response to Australia's growing economic, cultural and political relationship with China. The scholarship is designed for graduates who have a long term passion for strengthening this relationship through their business or cultural pursuits. Candidates will be in their final year of studies (or have recently graduated) and have undertaken China focused work experience or academic studies. Although Mandarin language skills are not required to apply for this position, candidates who have taken the initiative in developing core cultural and language skills will be highly regarded.
The program will place talented Australian graduates in key Australian industries in China through its comprehensive language, mentoring and work placement program.
The program will provide 15 positions across a broad range of industries and academic backgrounds. The allowance of positions to each sector will be decided based on demand from applications.

Once a Linkage Project has been granted to a University of Adelaide researcher, they will advertise the related APA(I) scholarship opportunity and application instructions on the Adelaide Graduate Centre scholarships website and the JASON website. The scholarship will be related to a specific project, and the Chief Investigator on the Linkage Project will select the successful candidate. The value of an APA(I) is indexed annually, on the anniversary of the recipients' start date.

The National Research Flagships program is an initiative of CSIRO, designed to bring together large multidisciplinary teams to focus on Australia’s major challenges and opportunities.
The Flagships offer full and top-up Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships to high quality students who are enrolled in a PhD at an Australian university, and who will be working on a project which is directly relevant to a Flagship.
Top-up scholarships will be the norm. Valued at $7000 per annum, they are available to PhD students who have gained (or expect to gain) an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship.
In some circumstances full scholarships will be available. These offer a stipend of the equivalent of an APA plus CSIRO's top-up amount of $7000 per annum for three years.
International students are eligible to apply, but must be able to provide evidence of admission to an Australian university.
Each Flagship will list a number of priority areas of research in which it is particularly seeking applications. These priority areas, along with the Fund guidelines and links to the application forms, will be available on the CSIRO Web.

The late Julia Nora Konig made a bequest of the residue of her estate to the University of Adelaide to be disbursed for the benefit of Australian Aborigines.
Eligibility: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking postgraduate studies on a full time basis by coursework or research towards the degrees of Master or Doctor of Philosophy shall be eligible to apply.
Value: The value of each award will be determined by the Graduate Scholarships Committee, taking into consideration available funding, financial need, and number of eligible applications. The George Fraser and Constance Fraser Scholarships are awarded to the highest ranking Honours and Masters graduates who apply for an Australian Postgraduate Award or University of Adelaide Scholarship who are not in receipt of an award or scholarship of equal or greater value. Where a scholarship of higher value is available, the George Fraser and Constance Fraser scholarships may be awarded to applicants who are not the highest ranked.

The NSW Government has developed a postgraduate scholarship in honour of the late Professor Peter Cullen AO FTSE. Professor Cullen contributed significantly to water policy and water management in Australia and NSW.
Applications for 2012 are now open and should be submitted by Friday 25 November.
The Peter Cullen Postgraduate Scholarship is an appropriate way to remember Professor Cullen and will support some of the brightest up and coming scientists to undertake water research in New South Wales.
The program is jointly funded by various NSW Government water agencies, including the NSW Office of Water, Sydney Catchment Authority, State Water, Hunter Water Corporation and Sydney Water Corporation.
The aim of the scholarship is to:
- improve our understanding of how rivers, groundwater, wetlands and estuaries function and respond to enhanced management
- improve the linkages between aquatic science and water management in NSW
- provide research opportunities in NSW for water specialists.
Funds available A three year scholarship of up to $20,000 per annum will be awarded each year. Funds totalling $60,000 will be available to the successful student over a three year period. The scholarship may form part of a stipend and/or directly support student research. The scholarship can be used to pay for such things as equipment, field expenses and sample processing. These conditions will be further defined in the scholarship agreement between the NSW Government and the University/Research Organisation.

The late Millie Hay Joyner passed away on 13 February 1993 leaving a will providing for a number of educational scholarships. Applications are invited for the Joyner Scholarships in Law, Fine Arts, Medicine and Science tenable at the three South Australian Universities. The Scholarships are available to support full-time study leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia and should hold or expect to hold a First Class Honours degree or equivalent thereof. Applicants must be acceptable to commence enrolment in a higher degree by research in 2012.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold or expect to obtain a First Class Honours degree or equivalent qualification in the disciplines of Law, Fine Arts, Medicine or Science respectively.
Selection: Applicants will be selected from those applying for an Australian Postgraduate Award at any of the three South Australian universities who are eligible under any one of the three categories.
Value: The living allowance for the scholarships will be set at 10% above the base stipend applying to Australian Postgraduate Awards ($23,728 in 2012). Support will continue for up to three years subject to satisfactory academic progress.

The 2013 SIEF Scholarships program includes funding for up to four John Stocker Postgraduate Scholarships (top-up), or 2 full Scholarships, commencing in 2013 over a three year period with preference for research in the 2013 priority research areas and/or the fields of information and communication technology (ICT), mathematics and engineering. The program has the desired outcomes of encouraging return to study, promoting industry collaboration and valuing industry experience. The program encourages potential international collaboration.
In 2013 the priority research areas are:

The Sir Robert Menzies Foundation is offering a research scholarship at an Australian tertiary institution for full-time postgraduate research leading to a higher degree in one of the allied health sciences. The scholarship will be awarded for two years to applicants who have been accepted as full-time candidates for a research PhD and who have completed the first stage of that program. The purpose of the scholarship is to stimulate research by persons working in the health field in disciplines other than medicine.

2013 Call for SRDC Scholarship Applications
SRDC is calling for applications for postgraduate research scholarships (Masters or PhD level) commencing in 2013, to foster training in disciplines compatible with SRDC’s research priorities as outlined in the SRDC RD&E Plan 2012-2017, and to fill capability gaps identified in the National Sugarcane Industry RD&E Strategy.
SRDC encourages applications in the areas of plant breeding, bio-informatics, plant physiology, plant pathology, entomology, engineering (particularly agricultural engineering), and social sciences (particularly economic analysis, change management and extension).
The SRDC Postgraduate Research Scholarships Program will offer either:
- Full scholarships comprising $30,000 annual stipend and $10,000 annual operating budget, or
- Top up scholarships for successful APA or equivalent scholarships. SRDC will offer postgraduate research top ups of up to $17,796 annual stipend and $10,000 annual operating budget.
The available Research Masters Scholarships are offered for up to two years and PhD Scholarships for up to three years full time.
To be eligible for an SRDC postgraduate full scholarship or top up scholarship, candidates must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- undertake postgraduate study
- receive acceptance at a recognised institution
- have an honors degree or comparable qualifications or experience.

Completion Scholarships are supported by University of Adelaide research scholarship funding and are designed to encourage timely PhD completions.
Eligibility: In 2013 they will be available to Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents undertaking a PhD who have not previously been in receipt of any type of scholarship funding.
Nomination and Eligibility Criteria
- A student must be nominated for a Completion Scholarship by their Principal Supervisor using the "Nomination for a Completion Scholarship" form.
- The Faculty / School / Discipline should have adequate funds available to support the Completion Scholarship.
- The nominated student should:
- Be currently enrolled in a PhD at the University of Adelaide OR have a lapsed candidature that can be resumed for one period of up to 6 months only
- Not have previously been in receipt of scholarship funding
- Have at least 6 months of research candidature tenure remaining (currently enrolled students)
- In the opinion of the School, be able to complete their PhD within the designated term of the scholarship (up to a maximum of 6 months)
- Have support from their Principal Supervisor
Value: $24,653 - The University of Adelaide Completion Scholarships provide a living allowance for up to a maximum of 6 months at the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) rate (pro rata). Funds will only be given to nominated candidates who have not previously received scholarship support.
Completion Scholarships are not to be viewed as an extension of a current scholarship and priority will be given to nominations for funding periods of less than the full 6 months.

Applications are invited for a scholarship leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the School of Population Health, University of Adelaide.
The scholarship is supported by an ARC linkage grant, in partnership with Cancer Council Australia, and Drug & Alcohol Services South Australia.
Field of Study:
Investigation into public and ethical responses to mandated alcohol warning labels about increased long-term risk of cancer.
It is intended that the PhD project will contribute to an ethical and qualitative examination of the Australian public's response to the proposed introduction of alcohol product warning labels. Within this research area, there are a number of possible topics that a candidate might choose to investigate. The project is suitable for students with an Honours degree, or equivalent, in social science, public health, psychology, ethics, philosophy, or other related disciplines.
Eligibility: Applicants must be acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide.
Stipend: The scholarship will be for 3 years and has a minimum stipend of $28,715 per annum, with a possible supplement to a total of AU$30,000 per annum (tax exempt).

Applications are invited for The Bill Cowan Barr Smith Library Fellowship established by the Cowan Grant to provide financial assistance towards study for postgraduate degrees by research using the collections of the Barr Smith Library. The Library has general research collections of over 2 million items and rich special collections.
The Fellowship is open to students currently residing temporarily or permanently in Australia and undertaking study towards a postgraduate degree by research, either commencing or in progress. Postdoctoral researchers may be eligible within three years of a doctoral award where the research using the Barr Smith Library collections is being undertaken in attachment to an Australian University.
The Fellowship provides financial assistance up to the total value of $12,000 annually towards study for postgraduate degrees by research using the collections of the Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide. The Fellowship is awarded once only to an applicant.

The Centre of Research Excellence in Foods for Future Australians is a newly established research centre which brings together researchers, clinicians and allied health professionals with an interest in nutrition during pregnancy and infancy. Our team of investigators includes basic scientists, dieticians, immunologists, and research clinicians who work together to undertake world-class research in this area.
The vision of Centre of Research Excellence in Foods for Future Australians is to undertake high quality basic, clinical and translational research to determine the best nutritional advice for the health and future of young families.
We have a number of internationally competitive research programs currently underway which span across a broad range of research areas from basic science to clinical and translational research.

The National Research Flagships program is an initiative of CSIRO, designed to bring together large multidisciplinary teams to focus on Australia’s major challenges and opportunities.
The Flagships offer full and top-up Flagship Postgraduate Scholarships to high quality students who are enrolled in a PhD at an Australian university, and who will be working on a project which is directly relevant to a Flagship.
Top-up scholarships will be the norm. Valued at $7000 per annum, they are available to PhD students who have gained (or expect to gain) an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship.
In some circumstances full scholarships will be available. These offer a stipend of the equivalent of an APA plus CSIRO's top-up amount of $7000 per annum for three years.
International students are eligible to apply, but must be able to provide evidence of admission to an Australian university.
Each Flagship will list a number of priority areas of research in which it is particularly seeking applications. These priority areas, along with the Fund guidelines and links to the application forms, will be available on the CSIRO Web.

Students must also expect to receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship commencing in the year of the CSIRO scholarship. The Elite Editing Thesis Write-up Scholarship provides financial assistance for one postgraduate student per year for a period of 12 weeks to free them from other forms of employment and allow them to concentrate solely on the task of writing their thesis.
For students who do not hold another scholarship, it pays a stipend of $1,000 per fortnight for six fortnights ($6,000 in total), tax free. For students who do hold another scholarship, it pays a stipend of $600 per fortnight for six fortnights ($3,600 in total), tax free.
Students must be enrolled full time in a research degree (Masters or PhD) at an Australian university. Part-time students are eligible to apply for the scholarship only in circumstances where the applicant is able to demonstrate heavy carer commitments or a medical condition that precludes them from studying full time. Students may be either internal or external students. Both international and domestic students are eligible to apply.
Applications will open on 1 January and close on 30 June each year. The scholarship will be awarded prior to 31 July each year. The successful applicant can specify a start date for the scholarship that is any time within the following 12 months.

The purpose of this scholarship is to enable applicants to undertake further postgraduate study or research. The Scholarship is intended to supplement the major scholarship held by the recipient, subject to the terms and conditions of the major scholarship. The scholarship is open to applicants undertaking research which will lead to sound analysis and conclusions for reform capable of practical application and advocacy in Australia, in the fields of:
- social policy, including policy relating to:
- social security and welfare payments and income support schemes;
- taxation; and
- superannuation and other forms of retirement income provision;
- education and health as they affect individual and family well being;
- jurisprudence, constitutional law and Commonwealth-State relations;
- environment;
- heritage;
- the arts; and
- indigenous affairs.

Applications are invited for The Bill Cowan Barr Smith Library Fellowship established by the Cowan Grant to provide financial assistance towards study for postgraduate degrees by research using the collections of the Barr Smith Library. The Library has general research collections of over 2 million items and rich special collections.
The Fellowship is open to students currently residing temporarily or permanently in Australia and undertaking study towards a postgraduate degree by research, either commencing or in progress. Postdoctoral researchers may be eligible within three years of a doctoral award where the research using the Barr Smith Library collections is being undertaken in attachment to an Australian University.
The Fellowship provides financial assistance up to the total value of $12,000 annually towards study for postgraduate degrees by research using the collections of the Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide. The Fellowship is awarded once only to an applicant.

The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide an opportunity for a student who has obtained an undergraduate degree to enter a research career having interrupted their academic development, eg: to fulfil family obligations, due to a medical condition or to enable the completion of professional training such as internships or other practical requirements for professional registration in particular disciplines.
The Scholarship will provide support to enable the student to undertake bridging studies such as an Honours degree or Masters Qualifying period at the University of Adelaide. It is expected that upon completion of this re-entry study program, the student will proceed to a research higher degree and will apply for postgraduate scholarship support in the normal manner. Receipt of the re-entry scholarship does not guarantee success in the postgraduate scholarship competition.
Eligibility: The Scholarship will be available to applicants who:
- are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia who have been resident in Australia for at least 12 months immediately prior to the closing date for applications
- have completed an undergraduate degree of at least 3 years duration
- have completed the undergraduate degree at least 3 years prior to the closing date for applications
- are to enrol as full-time students
- are not in receipt of significant alternative financial support for the study program; and
- have gained admission to an Honours or Masters Qualifying program or equivalent.
Selection Criteria: Selection will be based primarily upon the academic performance of the applicant at undergraduate level and upon the recommendation of the department in which the student intends to enrol. The Graduate Scholarships Committee may, at its discretion, take into account the individual circumstances of each applicant.
Value: The Scholarship provides a stipend equivalent to that provided by an Australian Postgraduate Award for a period of up to twelve months. There are no other allowances.

The Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards are elite scholarships for the very best university students to spend 6-12 months in Asia as part of their degree, followed by an internship or work placement in Asia. The Awards are open to Australian undergraduates and postgraduates in any field of study.
The Awards are for study in any of 10 Asian countries: China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Value: up to $63,500 for a postgraduate.
