for application. There may be other scholarships open at different
times of the year that are not listed here at this point. The list is

Bruce Webb Scholarship in Geology The Bruce Webb Scholarship in Geology has been established in memory of the late Mr Bruce Webb AM, former Chancellor of the University of Adelaide. The purpose of the scholarship is to support a meritorious student undertaking an Honours project in the Discipline of Geology and Geophysics. Nominations for the scholarship are received from the Head, Discipline of Geology and Geophysics for students enrolling in Honours in the Discipline of Geology and Geophysics in the following year (this includes mid-year enrolees). The successful recipient should commence a full-time Honours project that includes a significant component of geological mapping and fieldwork. Candidates must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia. Candidates must not be in receipt of any other equivalent award or scholarship for the Honours year. Selection will be made on the basis of academic merit and research potential.
It is anticipated that applicants will have demonstrated high academic
achievement in their undergraduate program, and that there is supervision
available in the students nominated Honours program. Equal Access Scheme The Equal Access Scheme is available for first year undergraduate students from low socio-economic backgrounds. Financial assistance can be provided towards the cost of books, Student Services fees and other study related expenses. To be eligible students must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, AND be commencing a program of study at the University of Adelaide, and be able to demonstrate financial need. Applications must be lodged in person with the Education and Welfare Office, Student Care Inc Adelaide University Student Union, Ground Floor, Lady Symon Building. SAAB Systems Scholarship Saab Systems Pty Ltd, a leading provider of IT solutions to defence and the commercial market places, is a significant employer of IT professionals in South Australia. The Saab Systems Scholarship is offered to highlight and promote IT-related careers for females as well as assisting one outstanding applicant to pursue a dynamic and challenging career. The scholarship will provide funding of $1,500.00 per year to assist the completion of an approved IT-related degree* at the University of Adelaide. Subject to the scholarship holder’s performance the scholarship will provide assistance for the duration of the course (maximum of four years). Performance will be reviewed at the end of each year. Saab Systems retains the right to terminate the scholarship should the scholarship holder fail one or more courses in any year of study, or fail to achieve a grade point average of at least Credit standard at the end of the second and third years of study. Eligibility: Female applicants who are completing year 12 this year at a South Australian secondary school and who are eligible for entry to an approved IT-related degree* program may make application for the scholarship. Applications: Applications will be invited through the public advertisement and through school Careers office/teachers. Applications should be no more than three pages in length and should contain evidence of interest in pursuing an IT career, academic achievement – including results from years 11 and 12 and a broad range of interests/activities. Applications should also include copies of two references – a reference from a teacher in a science subject and a personal reference. Walter & Dorothy Duncan Trust The Walter & Dorothy Duncan Trust provides financial assistance with educational costs for students who have difficulty achieving equity of access to higher education, eg those from low socio-economic backgrounds; isolated and rural areas; non-English speaking backgrounds; students with a disability; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; and women pursuing studies in fields under-represented by women. Grant amounts vary depending on need. Demonstrated academic merit is also required. Application forms are available from the Education and Welfare Office, Student Care Inc Adelaide University Student Union, Ground Floor, Lady Symon Building. Completed applications should be lodged in person with the Education and Welfare Officers. Please note: You must be a currently enrolled, University of Adelaide student. Application forms are available from the Education and Welfare Office, Ground Floor of the Lady Symon Building, but are only processed during the academic year. Wyndham Richardson Tertiary Students Care Trust The Wyndham Richardson Tertiary Students Care Trust was founded in 1983 due to the generosity of the late Mr Wyndham Richardson, a student at St Peter’s College, the University of Adelaide and Melbourne University. A volunteer Board of Directors administers the Trust and its aim is to provide assistance to tertiary students who are having financial difficulties in completing their tertiary studies. Applicants are advised to explore the normal student advisory and/or welfare channels at their respective educational institution before seeking the Trust’s assistance. Applications are invited twice annually, closing at the end of November and May, and the application form may be obtained from the Trust Secretary: Mr Michael Lane Telephone: (08) 8179-2800 Interviews will be arranged prior to Trust Board Meetings in February
and August when decisions will be reached as to the extent of any assistance.
Emergency applications may be made at other times and will be considered
on their merits.
