…an outcome from the SA Science Excellence Awards 2009.

 

The following HDA members were awarded a HDA Collaboration Award in 2010 of $1,000 each towards their collaborative research endeavours in the area of healthy development.

Dr Janna Morrison, Senior Research Fellow, Sansom Institute for Health Research, UniSA.

Collaborative area - Developmental origins of healthy heart workshop.
 A workshop with international and national speakers focusing on heart development and the early origins of adult health, including postgraduate poster presentations. The workshop topics covered included hypoxia in embryonic heart development; heart development in small babies; role of IGFs in heart health.

 

Dr Kate Ridley, Senior Lecturer, School of Education, Flinders University.

Collaborative area - Children’s physical activity workshop.
 A workshop aimed to bring South Australian researchers together to build capacity related to sedentary behaviour research and measurement. The workshop included international guest speakers and researchers from CSIRO and three Universities and practitioners working in health, education and exercise physiology.

 

Dr Lisa Smithers, Research Fellow, Population Health & Epidemiology, Sansom Institute for Health Research, UniSA.

Collaborative area - Diet quality of infants and young children workshop.
 A workshop on methods for measuring diet quality in early life with an aim to developing collaborations with researchers working in the area of whole-of-diet analysis and to build skills and knowledge in the use of these methods. The workshop involved nutritionists, biostatisticians and epidemiologists from UniSA and Deakin University.
