Our People

HDA incorporates over 100 members in over 20 research disciplines across the state that includes members from the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, Flinders University, Children Youth & Women's Health Service (CYWHS), relevant organisations/institutions and government departments with research and commercial expertise related to 'healthy development'. HDA focuses on research in healthy development from preconception to adolescence.

HDA is led by Professor Robert Norman, Professor Caroline McMillen and Professor Michael Sawyer.

Current Members

Membership within HDA is strong due to the possession of the following expertise:

  • Excellence. The membership of HDA is representative of outstanding senior researchers, clinicians and academics from different disciplines, with backgrounds and previous experience grounded in an international context.
  • Spanning the Disciplines. Members comprehensively span the disciplines, bringing together extensive experience in genetics, physiology, reproduction, dentistry, psychology, paediatrics, sociology, epidemiology, pharmacology, economics, politics and law etc.
  • Infrastructure and Research Facilities. The combined resources, capabilities and diverse range of systems used by members of the cluster provide a unique resource for research programs and will enable members to invest in existing facilities for the next generation early career researchers in developmental research.

Staff

HDA's Network and Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of HDA strategies, complete administrative duties, creating public awareness of HDA and fostering communication between the various discipline areas, liaison and communication with members, organisation of meetings and events, maintenance of membership database and website.
