ScholarshipsIndigenous Staff Scholarship ProgramIndigenous Staff Scholarships, provided through the Department of Education, Science and Technology, are awarded to Indigenous staff who are leaders and mentors to Indigenous people contemplating or undertaking study, actively encouraging Indigenous students to participate in higher education and complete their courses. Funding provided through the scholarship enables staff to take one year of leave from their university employment to complete full-time higher education study in their chosen academic or professional area. Five national scholarships are awarded each year granting up to $11,100 (indexed annually) to cover tuition fees and/or student contribution amounts for the year and a stipend payment of $22,300 (indexed annually). The Indigenous Staff Scholarships are awarded on merit as determined by the Minister following advice from the new Indigenous Higher Education Advisory Council, and priority is given to people undertaking postgraduate study.
