Joint Consultative Committee

When the University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2010 – 2013 (Enterprise Agreement) came into operation on 1 March 2011, it became a requirement that all policies and procedures that were being created, or varied by the University, that deal with conditions of employment, would need to go to a Joint Consultative Committee for feedback. The Joint Consultative Committee has now been established under the Enterprise Agreement.

What is the Joint Consultative Committee?

The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) comprises representatives from University Management and the unions that are a party to the Enterprise Agreement. The role of the JCC is to consider and provide feedback on proposed variations to University policies and procedures that deal with conditions of employment.

Who are the members of the JCC?

The JCC comprises the following members:

  • Tassi Georgiadis, Director Human Resources (Chair)
  • Dr Rod Crewther, NTEU Branch President (Deputy Chair)
  • Professor John Williams, Dean of Law
  • Jane Welch, Manager Workplace Relations
  • Christie O'Brien, Senior Workplace Relations Advisor
  • Linda Cecere, NTEU Branch Secretary
  • Cheryl Baldwin, NTEU Industrial Officer
  • Margaret Warner, CPSU Industrial Officer

What does the JCC do?

Under the Enterprise Agreement, the JCC is required to meet at least quarterly to consider University policies and procedures that seek to vary conditions of employment. The JCC’s role is to provide the key University stakeholders with feedback on proposed variations to policies and procedures.

What do I have to do?

If you or any of your staff are presently involved in a working group looking to vary a University policy or procedure that deals with conditions of employment, it is essential that the proposed policy or procedure be submitted to the JCC for its consideration and feedback during the consultation stage, prior to it being approved or implemented.

How often does the JCC Meet?

It is proposed that the JCC will meet on the following dates:

  1. 26 June 2013
  2. 31 July 2013
  3. 2 October 2013
  4. 27 November 2013 (Optional JCC Meeting)
  5. 18 December 2013 (Optional JCC Meeting)
  6. 19 March 2014
  7. 21 May 2014 (Optional JCC Meeting)
  8. 25 June 2014

How do I provide the JCC with relevant policy/procedure information?

HR will provide support for and will act as the secretariat to the JCC. If you would like to discuss the role of the JCC in the policy review process or have a working group that is currently reviewing a University policy or procedure that is required to go before the JCC please contact Jane Welch, Manager Workplace Relations on (08) 8313 0257 or Christie O'Brien on (08) 8313 5807.
