Within Human Resources each team provides service and advice in several different areas. The following outlines the roles and responsibilities of each team.

Consulting Services
- Interpretation of the Collective Agreement
- Advice and support in undertaking Major Organisational Change
- Staff grievances and disputes
- Managing staff separations – voluntary/targeted redundancies, pre-retirement, flexible work arrangements
- Reclassification
- Classification of all Duty Statements
- Provision of advice to Managers/Supervisors on all aspects of managing staff
Employee Services
- Contract administration
- Advertising vacancies
- Administration of the probation and review processes
- Superannuation services
- Administration of Titleholder
- Sponsorship of non-Australian resident appointees
- Liaise with relocation agents for interstate and overseas appointees
- Administration associated with the promotion process
- Special Studies Program administration
- Senior appointment support
- HR systems maintenance
- Preparation of employee terminations
- Provision of recruitment and employment advice
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- Maintaining the OH&S framework
- Injury management – worker's compensation, rehabilitation, Employee Assistance Program
- Advising, supporting and consulting withing the University on:
- OH&S issues
- technical aspects of OH&S legislation and policies
- supporting OH&S committees
- OH&S managment system implementation support
- Policy development review and consultation
- Liaising with government authorities and external organisations
- Training and corporate induction
- Investigation of major and frequent health and safety incidents

- Casual payments
- Leave queries
- Payment of scholarships (postgraduate)
- Pay adjustments due to contract changes (e.g. change of hours, backpay for new contracts)
- Personal deductions, bank changes, tax changes

Superannuation
- New employees superannuation membership

- Voluntary contributions
- Salary sacrificing (superannuation)

Systems
- HR systems development and upgrade
- Maintenance of PeopleSoft HR system
- HR system advisory services
- Support for HR system users
- Generation of HR system reports

Workplace Relations
- Australian Workplace Agreement/Collective Agreement negotiation
- Industrial dispute resolution
- Interpretation and implementation of Work Choices legislation
- Higher Education Workplace Relations Requirements (HEWRR) compliance
- Development and review of HR policies
- Provision of industrial advice to Managers/Supervisors
Workforce Planning & Equity
- Provision of specialist advice and training in planning and equity and diversity related issues, including the Fair Treatment Policy
- Workforce planning support
- Research and analytical services, particularly in relation to staff planning and equity
- Undertaking major project initiatives relating to planning and equity
- Monitoring and reporting on University legislative compliance to government and University governance in relation to equity and planning
- Developing and promulgating policy-related issues to specialist areas
