Emerging Leaders Program

Program Overview

Making the transition into management can be challenging. The shift from achieving results through personal proficiency to succeeding through others is one of the most difficult aspects of a new manager's role.

The Emerging Leaders Program is a customised development program delivered within Faculties/Branches by external facilitators. The program is designed to build the leadership capability of new managers and to provide context for their contribution to the University.

Learning Outcomes

  • Provide the theoretical foundations of management and leadership, and the opportunity to practise techniques.
  • Provide participants with core knowledge, skills and practical solutions for making the transition into management.
  • Build leadership capability and confidence across the Faculty/Branch.
  • Gain knowledge in the areas of building and leading high performance teams, motivation, understanding leadership styles, and achieving outcomes through others.
  • Demonstrate the importance and benefits of influencing others and managing key relationships.
  • Provide University context and clarify the role that emerging leaders play in supporting the Faculty/Branch.
  • Build broad school networks.
