Planning, Development and Review (PDR) for Staff

Program Overview

PDR enables an ongoing focus on work objectives as well as planning for the resources and development required to make them possible. Importantly, PDR is also about enhancing communication and providing ongoing feedback around performance. This program will help you to learn about the benefits of PDR for you, and how to be an active participant in the planning of your work and development.

Learning Outcomes

You will enhance your understanding of:

  • Your role in PDR
  • How to prepare for the discussion
  • How to set realistic objectives
  • How to participate in meaningful conversations
  • How to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • How to influence and 'manage up' effectively

Program Structure

PDR for Staff is a 4 hour workshop covering the following topics:

  • Purpose of PDR
  • Your role as a Staff Member
  • Setting Objectives
  • Engaging in the PDR process so it works for you and your manager
  • Managing the relationship with your manager
  • Effective versus ineffective feedback
  • Giving feedback
  • Receiving feedback
  • Questioning techniques

Nomination Criteria

PDR applies to all continuing or fixed-term staff on a contract of 12 months or longer. Enrolment is done through the course booking system

Cost

This program is funded by the Staff Learning and Development budget and so there is no cost to the Area/School.
