Pilot Development WorkshopsEquity and Diversity with the support of the Centre Learning and Professional Development has piloted two Staff Development workshops relating to effective handling of bullying, harassment, discrimination and other inappropriate workplace behaviours. Workshop 1: Managing inappropriate and difficult behaviour in the workplaceThis workshop is for Heads of School and Unit Managers and provides the opportunity to develop and practice skills to effectively handle of bullying and harassment issues. Managers and supervisors have responsibility under the Fair Treatment Policy to promote and support a climate of fair treatment in their area and to handle complaints relating issues covered by the Policy. The workshop will provide relevant and practical methods for initiating and having the difficult conversations required to address concerns about bullying and harassment and assist managers in fulfilling their responsibilities, managing risk in relation to fair treatment issues and maintaining good collegial and working relationships. Staff participating in the pilot will be asked to complete a short evaluation prior to and after the session to assess the effectiveness of the workshop. Workshop 2: Building Resilience: Responding effectively to bullying and other inappropriate behaviours at workThis workshop is for all staff and provides information on confident and appropriate personal responses to inappropriate behaviours at work and gives participants the opportunity to plan and practice new effective personal responses. The workshop will run in two parts and provide the opportunity for participants to implement new effective responses in ‘real life’ situations and report back on potential changes. Staff participating in the pilot will be asked to complete an evaluation prior to the first session and after the second session to assess the effectiveness of the workshop.
