New On-Line System for Casual Employment (CASPA)

Following a successful trial in a number of Schools and Branches, the CASPA system is now live and will replace the paper-based processes for casual staff contracts and timesheets.

CASPA enables Schools/Branches to set up casual contracts effective 23 February 2013, from which date all casual contracts and timesheets will be administered through the new on-line system.  (Any casual work completed between now and including 22 February will need to be captured on a paper-based contract/timesheet as per the existing process.) Casual contracts and timesheets will be accessible via the Casual Employment Online (CASPA) link in the University staff portal, Unified.

CASPA is the culmination of work over the last two years to meet the diverse and complex needs of the University. The new system was developed in response to feedback from Executive Deans and staff members that the current paper-based process is time consuming and can be open to errors or delays. There has been a significant contribution to this system development from many University staff through reference groups, working groups and testing teams and thanks go to all those involved.

As part of implementation, Human Resources will be delivering a number of information sessions to provide a brief demonstration for future CASPA users. It is recommended that all casual staff, supervisors, timesheet validators and other University staff who are likely to interact with the system attend one of these sessions.
