Academic Promotions Toolkit
If you would like to give feedback on the contents of the Toolkit please contact Human Resources. Important Note for all 2009 Applicants All applications for Academic Promotion in 2009 are advised to check that their applications are in line with the related Policy and Guidelines. As per clause 5.3.1 The supporting evidence must be no longer than 25 single sided pages, no less than 12 point Arial Narrow font, and single line spacing. Application in excess of 25 pages will not be considered. This limit does not include the Academic Promotion Application Form. Academic Promotion Workshop – Applicants to Level D or EAll Academic staff that are interested in applying for promotion to Level D or E are encouraged to attend an Academic Promotion Workshop. This session will provide valuable information on what should be included in your application and will give you the opportunity to ask questions. Promotion Workshop Details: Date: Friday, 22nd May 2009 Speakers will include Professor Fred McDougall, DVC (A), Professor Geoff Crisp, Director, Centre for Learning and Professional Development as well as members of the Human Resources Branch to advise on Policy, Process and Equity related questions. ApplicantsApplication forms: Writing an application, particularly for the first time, can be daunting. What makes a good application? Below are examples of successful promotion applications which drew positive comments from the promotion committee. Each applicant has agreed for an edited version of the commentary and in some cases their CV, Faculty and other relevant information to be placed on the web to help other applicants in developing their cases. As far as possible information, including about courses, that might identify the applicant has been removed. Examples: (Please disregard type font size, these are examples only and not all represent the required font size outlined in the policy.)
When addressing the teaching and learning criterion, applicants should consider the presentation of evidence in the style of a teaching portfolio, and should also consider peer review as a further source of feedback on teaching.
