If it is likely that the University will appoint an overseas candidate to the position, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship normally requires a position to be advertised at least once in both the metropolitan and national press.
It must be demonstrated that no Australian Permanent Resident is appointable to the position to justify the appointment of an overseas applicant.
