Health, Safety & Welfare

  • A Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) unit dedicated to overseeing the development, implementation and review of HSW Policies & Guidelines, investigating incidents, identifying and managing hazards, reviewing hazard control methods, providing HSW training, managing workers rehabilitation and compensation and the health and wellbeing of all staff, students and visitors of the University.
  • Online HSW training is an induction requirement for all new staff.

Health Services

  • The University Health Service on the North Terrace campus delivers General Practitioner services available to all staff of the University.
  • The Employee Assistance Program provides free short term counselling assistance to employees experiencing personal difficulties at work or outside of work.
  • The Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) Unit's Health Promotion website is a good source for personal health information for employees.

Fitness & Recreation

  • The University Sports Association has 37 sports and recreation clubs throughout the University.
  • The Fitness Hub on the North Terrace campus offers gymnasium facilities including free weights, cardio equipment, and classes such as aerobics, yoga, cross training and dancing, as well as a games room. Indoor sports facilities are also available at Thebarton campus.

Staff Services

Parking

  • A range of University parking permit options are available for permanent staff or staff on a contract of three months or more.
  • Parking permit fees can be deducted from your salary each fortnight for convenience.

Childcare

  • On-campus Full-time, part-time and occasional childcare facilities are available at the North Terrace, Roseworthy and Waite campuses Monday-Friday throughout the year, except on Public Holidays and for part of the Christmas/New Year break.

Security

  • Security Services aim to provide a safe campus environment for all staff, students and visitors to the University and are a source of information on how to protect your personal property and deal with various emergency situations.
  • Self-defence classes.
