Introduction

Successful recruitment and selection systems and practices will facilitate the development of the University's workforce profile. Our policy is to recruit staff of the highest calibre through a fair and open process. Staff involved in recruitment must adhere to the University policy.

The aim of this website is to assist in achieving a timely and efficient recruitment process. Here you will find all the information you need around advertising, shortlisting/interviewing, as well as salaries and contract negotiation for Academic Staff. Getting Started

Before you begin please take a moment to review the policy and process around recruitment at the University as this will help you identify where you need to begin. Below are the steps which act as a guide to the recommended order of the recruitment process.

Recruitment Process Overview:

1.  Pre-recruitment stage - planning within department
2.  Confirm Position Description 
3.  Write advert (review example adverts on website)
4.  Submit Request to Advertise Form (RTA) 
5.  Note application period and closing dates
6.  Organise Appointment Committee  
7.  Acknowledge receipt of applications (usually by email)
8.  Begin shortlisting
9.  Advise unsuccessful applicants 
10.  Invite shortlisted candidates to interview
11.  Conduct referee checks for preferred candidate (usually by phone)
12. Make verbal offer and negotiate (N.B. This is a legally binding verbal contract)
13. Submit signed Appointment Form to Human Resources
14. Advise unsuccessful interviewed candidates
15. Human Resources issue contract
