IMER Heads to South America on a Promotional Mission
During April, key IMER personnel are visiting Chile, Peru and Argentina to promote new research and commercial opportunities in the deployment of solar thermal, geothermal and electricity options for mining and mineral processing and establish new research collaborations.
The mission is being staged in collaboration with the Australia Chile Chamber of Commerce. It includes functions facilitated by the Australian embassies in Peru and Argentina and AMIRA International in Chile and Peru.
IMER Executive Director Stephen Grano, South Australian Centre for Geothermal Energy Research (SACGER) Director Martin Hand and Centre for Energy Technology (CET) Director Gus Nathan are part of the mission. Other key participants include Director SA/Vice President Australia Chile Chamber of Commerce Maria Galatsanos, Geothermal Resource Manager, Hot Rock Australia Ltd, Hot Rock Chile SA and Hot Rock Peru SA, Luis Urzua and Juan Daniel Silva, AMIRA International Chile.
"Information will be exchanged with key research organisations, technology providers and industry organisations," said Professor Grano.
"Chile and Australia both share common imperatives in the supply of low-cost, base-load renewable energy sources and have much to learn from each other in this critical area, and its relationship to mining and mineral processing operations," he said.
