Cleaning and Waste Management
Campus Services contributes to the maintenance of a clean and healthy working environment through provision of cleaning and waste management services to all University of Adelaide campuses.
Cleaning
All buildings are cleaned, and general waste removed daily from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays and the University Christmas closure period. These services are normally provided in the early hours of the morning between 1:00am and 8:30am for the purpose of minimising disruption to University business and to ensure all areas are presentable at the start of each working day. Periodic maintenance of carpets, hard flooring surfaces and windows is scheduled throughout the year at frequencies appropriate for the surface, location and patterns of use. Any additional services will incur a “fee for service” charge to the area requesting the service.
Cleaning for special purposes, functions and events can be arranged by completing a Maintenance Request Form.
Waste Management
Specialised waste removal services including, hazardous, confidential, chemical, biological and medical waste are provided upon request and in agreement with areas requiring these specialist services. Statutory compliance is an important component of these services and Waste Transport Certificates must be completed by the producer of the waste.
Recycling bins for office paper waste are provided in central office locations and boxes for collection of waste paper are provided at each desk. University staff members are required to transfer paper waste from their desks to the recycle bin provided. Requests for cardboard collection and disposal through Campus Services recycling arrangements can be made by completing the Maintenance Request Form.
If you require further information about these services please contact the appropriate Maintenance Service Centre.
