Record entry for medical studies
A record number of South Australians start their medical degrees at the University of Adelaide this year. Ninety-four of the 144 students enrolled are local students, which is 30 more than last year. Professor Justin Beilby, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, said a new entry process, the 40 extra places and increased tertiary transfers had all helped. "Different sets of strategies are all contributing to the trend," Professor Beilby said. There are 60 extra medical places in SA universities this year, 40 of which went to Adelaide.
