Uni in the NewsBrendan's star is on the riseUniversity of Adelaide graduate Brendan Lim, 23, will soon join the alma mater of former US Presidents — and study at Yale Law School. Winner of a 2008 General Sir John Monash Award, Mr Lim is heading to the US next month to undertake a Masters of Laws, followed by a Doctor of the Science of Law at Yale University. His degrees include a Bachelor of Music (First-class Honours), First-class Honours in Law and he has been awarded the inaugural Most Outstanding Honours Graduate at Elder Conservatorium. "I've met too many people, particularly in the legal profession, who'll say to me that they 'used to' play an instrument and I really don't want to end up in that boat," said Mr Lim, who is a Judge's Associate in the Federal Court in Adelaide while also working professionally as a jazz pianist. "I just want to keep a number of doors open and make decisions as I go," he told the Adelaide* magazine. At Yale, Brendan will examine the role of law in securing stable government.
