Uni in the News

Google to power Adelaide Uni

The University of Adelaide has selected Google as its default email and collaboration platform for over 16,000 students. The University will deploy Gmail, Google Talk for instant messaging and calendar services to students from 16 March. Students will be offered the opportunity to switch over from their University of Adelaide email account to a new account powered by Google (Gmail) - at no charge. With Gmail, student mailboxes will increase from 250MB to 7GB. The University has an IT team working with Google on the implementation process. The move towards Google Apps is just one of a raft of improvements to student IT support.

Research Tuesday with Professor Mary Lydon

Secure Your Seat Now!

"The wrecks are talking: Why road crashes happen and what can be done about it"
Date/Time: Tuesday 10 March 2009, 5:30pm
Venue: Lecture Theatre G04, Napier Building

There are many different factors that contribute to a vehicle accident and its impact on victims. What are those factors and how can we learn from them?

For over 30 years, the University of Adelaide's Centre for Automotive Safety Research (CASR) has conducted extensive investigations into more than 2,000 crashes on South Australian roads. It's vital work, with communities everywhere understandably calling for improved road safety to reduce unacceptable human and financial costs. Happily, progress is being made.

Through expert analysis of human factors, conditions, vehicles involved, forensics and medical data, consistent causes are emerging and preventative measures are being identified. In this powerful presentation, CASR Director Professor Mary Lydon will reveal exactly what they are.
