2011

January 2012

You can see the building really taking shape, third abd fourth floors are now well under construction.

November 2011

Work is well underway on the ground and first floors of the building. In the next month we expect completion of the Level 1 slab.

September 2011

Detailed excavation and pile caps arenow complete on the illumin8 project. In the next month the following will be undertaken:

  • Basement raft slab construction
  • Basement lift/stairs
  • Forming up slab at ground
  • Pour eatern ground floor columns

August 2011

Pouring of the concrete basement slab is currently underway. The tower crane was erected mid August and bulk excavation is complete. Over the next month we expect completion of the detailed excavation and of the formwork on the walls and columns to the under side of the ground floor to commence.

July 2011

Diaphragm wall and foundation piling have now been completed

June 2011

Constuction is progressing steadily, preparation for the basement slab is currently underway.

May 2011

A sample which is 39 million years old was excavated during the core drilling of the illumin8 construction site. It is composed of the same tertiary (late eocene) fossiliferous 'blanch point formation' that is seen in outcrops along the Maslin Beach cliffs.

March 2011

Work began on the construciton of the basement walls. These 12m deep walls are constructed in a series of panels around the perminter of the building.

February 2011

We celebrated on the Barr Smith Lawns the next stage in development of the building. The Vice Chancellor Prof James McWha held an illumination ceremony on 2 Feb 2011 where Senator Hon Kim Carr, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science & Research ‘illuminated’ a light, representing the Illimin8 building.
