IT Strategic Plan for 2008-2012

The University is in the process of developing an IT Strategic Plan for 2008 - 2012 in line with the University Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012, Building a Great Research University.

The Strategic Directions document for IT (now referred to as 'Digital Future') has been completed and is in the process of being communicated to key university governance groups for final input.  This document outlines the current and desired future state for IT at the University and represents the completion of a major stage in the strategic planning process.

The strategic planning process included a thorough current state analysis as well as in depth interpretation of the implications of the University Strategic Plan for IT services. A number of workshops involving key University stakeholders including University executives, senior academics and faculty administrative staff, ITS management and staff were held to capture in detail future IT requirements for University students and staff.

The strategic planning process produced a Strategic Directions document that highlights key focus areas for ITS for the next five years.

A staged approach will be used to implement the strategy:

Stage 2: Digital Future Priority Actions Areas - (March 2008);

Develop recommendations and budget estimates to address key IT improvement areas identified in the 'Digital Future'.

Stage 3: IT Strategic Plan - (July 2008)

Finalises the vision for IT at the University.  Includes detailed plans outlining how to move from the current state to the future vision state.

Stage 4: IT Strategic Plan Implementation (August 2008 - 2012)

Implement the 'how' stages of realizing the IT Strategic Plan.  Multiple projects will be instigated to transform IT at the University.
