Before You Change Your Password *Important*

Account lockouts will occur if you change your password and do not update the stored passwords in any devices that are used to connect to the University. To avoid this please make sure you do the following:

Forget University wireless networks on your mobile devices before changing your password. Please find a guide here. Once you have changed your password you can reconnect to wireless with your new password.

Change the stored email password on your mobile device immediately after changing your password. Please find a guide here.

Delete all instances of the old password from the keychain on your Macintosh computer. Please find a guide here.

Update any software applications or drive mappings that have stored your old password.

Clear remembered passwords in your Internet Browser if you are not able to access University websites after changing your password. Please find a guide here.

Setup challenge response questions to allow you to retrieve your password if you forget it. This option is available when you login to change your password via Password Manager.

Restart any University of Adelaide Windows PC you are logged into immediately after changing your password.

My Account Is Locked!

  • Your account will lock if a device or computer you are using stores an old or incorrect password and attempts to connect to our IT services.
  • After 25 bad password attempts your account will lockout for security reasons. It will automatically unlock after 30 minutes.
  • Please note that a lot of mobile devices attempt to connect to Wireless or Email automatically in the background. Therefore, your account can lockout without you typing a password if the wrong password is stored.
  • If your account locks we suggest you work through and eliminate the possible causes stated at the top of this page in Before You Change Your Password.
  • If you are unable to solve the issue please call the Technology Service Desk on 8313 3000 and we can assist you in determining the cause of the lockout.
