Resetting or Changing your Password

People who are currently entitled to access one or more online services at the University of Adelaide must have an account with a unique username and password to do so. New users, and those who have forgotten their password, need to follow the procedure for Resetting Your Password.

Changing your password 

If you wish to change your password you must follow the prompts on the Change your Password web site.  When you change your password it will change the password you use to access most online services.

Password Expiry

Your University of Adelaide password must be changed at least once every 360 days. This is inline with revised Security Policy. When it is time to change your password you will receive a system generated email reminding you. If you do not change your password it will expire and you will be unable to access most online services.

If your password expires you can only have it Reset.

Resetting your password

The procedures for setting a new password, expired password, or resetting a password if you have forgotten it, depend on whether you have previously set up the forgotten password feature and on where you are located.

North Terrace and Adelaide CBD

Students, Staff and Visitors can visit the Student Centre. To perform the reset you will need your Student or Staff ID card, or some other form of photo ID.

Waite and Roseworthy Campus

All people at the Waite Campus who are currently entitled to access one or more online services should call the ITS Helpdesk on (08) 8303 3000. The Helpdesk staff will then arrange for you to be contacted by a Computing Officer at that location.  

All people at the Roseworthy Campus who are currently entitled to access one or more online services can contact Judy Tucker in the Main Building on 8303 7812, and Judy can reset their password for them.

Unable to present in person?

NOTE: This process is only to be used if you cannot attend in person at any of North Terrace, Waite or Roseworthy campuses. 

Students, staff and Visitors will need to;

  • Contact the Student Centre on +61 8 8303 5208.  
  • Complete the Request a Password Reset Form (pdf 80kB) and fax it to Card Services +61 8 8303 4401
  • Your password will then be printed and faxed or mailed to you.  Your password will not be given to you over the phone nor will it be sent via email.
  • Upon receipt of the printed password, you will need to immediately change it to a password known only to you using the Change your Password website.

Costs

No costs are incurred for resetting  your password.

Timelines

Password resets take effect immediately and the new password will remain valid for 360 days.  You will be prompted to change your password before it expires.
If you cannot present in person, there will be some delay with processing.  All reasonable attempts will be made to ensure the reset password is sent to you on the day it is requested.
