Preferred NamesStaff, visitors and students are now able to elect to have a preferred first name included as email name and the name that appears in Webmail and Netscape (and in Calendar for those staff who use it). A preferred name is a name other than your primary or official first name. It must be a shortened version of your first name eg Bob, or your middle name and the name that you are known by in the community, or an English first name used in place of an Asian name. The procedures for registering a preferred name can be found following. StaffStaff should use the Change to Personal Details Form. Staff will need to provide a copy of some identification such as a driver's licence or other form of identification which shows your photo and signature and which will verify that you are making the request to change your name. This should be forwarded to Human Resources. Note that when this is actioned, your email address may change. Your former email address will become an alias and will still receive emails. Updating your Preferred NameThe combination of email address and display name in other end systems may differ according to different scenarios that exist. You will need to complete the Change to Personal Details Form to request that your preferred name be used and submit this to HR where:
You will need to contact the Technology Serivce Desk to request a manual correction to other systems where your email address displays your preferred name, but Calendar and Email display your primary name. StudentsYou will need to advise your preferred name using the Request for Friendly Email Address Form, which can be completed at Hub Central.
