Employment InformationStudents are required to work to standard University Duty Statements and will be recruited according to the staffing requirements of an area. Every reasonable effort will be made by the Team Leaders and Program Coordinator to ensure that there is equity in shift hours in each area and across ITS. SelectionAll appointments are required to follow a formal selection process involving applications based on Selection Criteria and interviews. The most important Selection Criteria is the restriction of positions to enrolled students at The University of Adelaide. As part of the University of Adelaide, Information Technology Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer and an EOWA Employer of Choice for Women. Termination
Given satisfactory performance, termination occurs at the completion of a contract unless an application to extend a contract is approved. The standard notice of two weeks applies to any Cadets who wish to terminate their contract. Acknowledgement
Upon completion of the Cadetship Program, students will receive a formal certificate and written reference from his/her immediate supervisor. TermThe standard contract will be for 12 months. RemunerationRegular positions commence at a HE03 (step four) per annum if the student is aged 21 years or over, otherwise junior rates apply. Senior positions receive a loading equivalent to two steps in the HEO3 range. On renewal of a contract, the standard salary increments apply. The ITS On-call arrangement defines on-call rates. Any hours worked after 6pm on weeknights receive a 15% loading. Benefits and LeaveCadets will be entitled to leave as prescribed in the current Enterprise Certified Agreement. This includes recreation, sick leave and superannuation. The standard approval processes for leave (that is, by completing leave forms) will be required of cadets. HoursContract hours will be fixed between 10 and 14 hours per week. The enterprise bargaining agreement states that staff cannot be required to work longer than five hours without a 30-minute break. In cases where the hours required vary per week, it will be the responsibility of the Team Leader of that area to monitor work performed against contractual requirements. Hours worked after 6pm will be reported to Human Resources on a fortnightly basis and paid to the employee in the next pay cycle. ReportingStudents report directly to the Team Leader or Manager in the respective area in ITS. |
