Email and Calendar UpgradeThe email and calendaring system used by University staff and post-graduate (research) students is being upgraded in order to provide an integrated, reliable and feature-rich solution. The existing Sun ONE email and Oracle calendar systems will be replaced with a Microsoft Exchange solution. Outlook 2007 will remain the recommended client for SOE users and the existing Webmail client will be replaced with Outlook Web App 2010 (OWA). Mac and Linux platforms will continue to be catered for. The key benefits of this upgrade are:
The upgrade to Microsoft Exchange email and calendar commenced with a Pilot in late November. All University staff and post-graduate (research) students using university-provided email will be progressively migrated to Exchange from December, 2011 to April, 2012. For further details see Email Upgrade. Exchange calendar will become the University's central service for scheduling meetings from April 23, 2012. All University staff currently using the Oracle calendaring system will migrate to the new calendaring system at this time. For further details see Calendar Upgrade.
