New Telephone Number RangeTo accommodate the growth of staff, students and buildings now and in the future The University of Adelaide has expanded its range of telephone numbers from 5000 numbers to 10,000 numbers. In addition to the existing range of numbers with the 830 prefix, the University has acquired the 831 prefix. As the range of 830 numbers has now been exhausted, all new staff will be allocated numbers from the 831 range. The University’s online telephone directory now displays the complete telephone number for each listing with the extension number in bold. Regardless of the prefix, the 5 digit extension number will stay the same. How will the new number range affect me?The affect of this change is to the people that call you from outside the University or dial using your full phone number. The phone number people call you on depends if you have an OLD number or a NEW number. In order to achieve consistency across the University, over time all numbers with the 8303 prefix will be transitioned across to the 8313 prefix. ITS will be working with each area to manage this change over an extended period of time. 8303 numbersThese numbers can now be dialled with the new prefix 831 as well as the existing prefix 830. Until transition plans are finalised no action is required. There is no change to how an old number is dialled internally. Continue using the five digit extension number. 8313 numbersNumbers from the 8313 range have been assigned since January 2008. These numbers can not be accessed using the 8303 prefix. To dial an 8313 number internally simply use the five digit extension number. How do I know if I have an 8303 number or a 8313 number?Check the internal phone directory. http://www.adelaide.edu.au/phonebook/ All University numbers are now listed in the internal phone directory with their prefix in bold. If there is no entry in your name, please fill in the Amendment form that is on the link below and you will be added to the University of Adelaide telephone directory. http://www.adelaide.edu.au/phonebook/amendments.html If your phone number does not appear in the phonebook you can also use the table below.
