Email List Administration

ITS supplies a service to support the creation and administration of group email lists. Lists are created by ITS on request from University organisation units or staff.   Each list must have a 'list manager' from the organisation unit requesting the list.  The list management software provides a Web browser tool that enables the list manager to configure the way the list works and control who can send and receive messages. 

List managers must have completed a short training course on use of the software and the requirements of the Spam Act. A list can consist of a static list of email addresses, or be configured to be updated daily so it holds only the current members of a group, such as all students in a school, or all staff in an organisation unit.

Lists may be used for any University purpose that is consistent with the IT Acceptable Use and Security Policy.   The list creation request form requires authorisation by an appropriate manager or head of unit

Procedure

If you wish to request a creation of a new email list, the following on-line form must be completed: List Creation Form

To request the deletion of an existing email list, the following form must be completed : List Deletion Form

Costs

There are no costs associated with this service.

Timelines

Creation of new email lists will be completed within 4 working days from the date the ITS Helpdesk receives the List Creation Form. The deletion of an existing email list will be completed within 2 working days of the ITS Helpdesk receiving the request via the List Deletion Form.
