What is Project Apollo
Project Apollo is the transition of the Faculty of Health Sciences to a centralised IT support model, also known as Foundation Services
Foundation Services Include:
- Desktop Support Services
- Standard Operating Environment Services (SOE)
- Helpdesk Support Services
- Training Services
- Audio Visual Services
- Software Management Services
- Central Infrastructure Services EG Printing, Hosting, Collaboration and Communication Services
Project Apollo will also provide the following:
- Comprehensive audit of all Faculty of Health Sciences workstations, servers, peripherals and software
- Software rationalisation and licensing compliance
- Capped ITS and Faculty funded upgrade of workstations to meet minimum hardware specifications for the new University Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
- Capped ITS and Faculty funded upgrade of software to meet minimum specifications for the New University Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
- Rollout of the New University Standard Operating Environment (SOE) based on Windows Vista Enterprise, Microsoft Office 2007 (including Outlook)
- Software and Hardware standards for Mac computers
- Transition to the new University desktop infrastructure
- Transition of server infrastructure to the University Data Centre

- Ability to self-provision software and have it automatically delivered to your computer (licensing approval may be required)
- Improved roaming capabilities with software and data 'following' staff when they move between computers
- Improved mobile support for notebook users including having network stored data available when disconnected from the University network

- improved IT security reducing the University's exposure to malicious software and potential loss of intellectual property
