What is Desktop Excellence? 

Desktop Excellence is the upgrade of staff computers at the University to the latest in software (Microsoft Office 2007) and operating systems (Microsoft Vista).

A number of areas in the University have already been completed or are in progress.  The grpah below shows an overall status. 

Note: Health Sciences (Project Apollo) and EC&MS are not included in this graph.

This is the first time this kind of targeted rollout has been undertaken at the University. In the past systems were upgraded when they required a rebuild or when a staff member received a new computer.

Through the introduction of a Standard Operating Environment , the upgrade will bring a number of benefits to the University.
