Email Inbox Space
Email is delivered to your mailbox on a central mail server. University funded inbox space is provided for all University IT account holders based on their relationship with the University. General information about email can be found here while information about storage allocations, and how to acquire more, is detailed below:
Quota period and allowance
The following table provides information on inbox quota for both staff and students:

Quota allowance

All staff receive 1Gb of inbox space.
Areas (school/branch) may purchase additional space for use for individual staff email inboxes.

All students and visitors receive 50Mb of inbox space.

| Warnings |
Email warnings are sent when inbox reaches 90% capacity.
Regular warnings are then sent at 100% capacity and email is queued for 4 days after which email messages are bounced.

Purchasing extra inbox space

Purchase of quota

Charges are currently $25 for Gb per annum per person. Requests can be made to increase quota to 5 Gb or 10 Gb.
