Free Afterhours Internet

The University of Adelaide is trialing Free afterhours Internet.

What is Charged?

There are two types of Internet traffic.

What is it?

ON NET

ON Net Internet is mainly educational and research web sites. It also includes important online services such as the Google network.

The University's Internet Service Provider, AARNet, have an online tool AARNet3 Network Address Query.

ON Net = domestic on-net, domestic peering, Akamai and international on-net

OFF NET

YES

All other internet traffic.

OFF Net = domestic off-net and international off-net

Your Quota

Students including Undergraduates, Honours and Postgraduate coursework

Quota Period

Period 1 - 1st January to 30th June
Period 2 - 1st July to 31st December

Quota Allowance (per Period)

Undergraduates - 1GB
Honours - 2GB
Postgraduates (coursework) - 2GB
International students - 2GB

Quota Alerts

Email notification's alert you when you have used 25%, 50%, and 75% of your student quota.

When students have exceeded their quota they will receive an email informing them that;
- they have used all their university funded quota,
- their access to the external internet is blocked, and
- they can purchase additional quota from the University Contact Centre.

Top Up Your Quota

STUDENTS can top up Internet quota at the University Contact Centre on North Terrace Campus, at the Main Office on Roseworthy Campus or at the WISA office on Waite Campus.

ACADEMIC STAFF can top up Internet quota for individual students or courses using the Request for Increase in Student Internet Quota form.

Top up Quota costs 1cent per Megabyte in various bundles.

Top Up Quota is rolled over to the next period.

Top Up Quota is not refundable.
