Financial Reporting with nVision

Target Audience

This course is aimed at staff who are required to access and interpret financial reports such as Operating Statements and Fund and Project Position Summaries. Access to nVision is provided based on approval by the relevant Faculty Finance Manager and the Finance Branch as well as completion of appropriate training. Attendance at training does not guarantee access to the University's information systems.

Overview

This course covers both the prepared monthly reports and interim reports which can be run by a user at any time for the most timely information. It covers techniques such as drilling to underlying journals or drilling by two variables, such as Account by Project to produce pertinent reports. As nVision is built on Excel, all reports can be copied to MS Word for formal reporting. Previous experience with Excel would be an advantage.

Prerequisite and Co-requisite Courses

Staff can do this course independently of other Financial System modules. This makes it suitable for managers as well as administrative staff. It also provides an addition to the reporting methods covered in the Purchasing and General Ledger modules.

Competencies

At the completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

1. Start nVision from within PeopleSoft.
2. Access both Management and Standard Reports and explain the differences between them.
3. Use outlining (nPlosion) and drilling techniques to obtain details.
4. Create interim reports for both departments and individual projects.
