Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a versatile program that allows you to create electronic presentations with relative ease. It offers powerful features for viewing, editing and manipulating data; supports many media types; is designed for non-designers; and integrates with other programs such as Word and Excel. There are three levels in PowerPoint 2007 training.

Powerpoint 2007 : Level 1

Target Audience

This unit is aimed at staff and students looking for an introduction to Powerpoint 2007.

Overview

This is the entry level course for Powerpoint 2007. It covers the Powerpoint 2007 interface and essential Powerpoint skills. The knowledge and skills covered in this unit will be assumed in the subsequent units.

Prerequisite and Co-requisite Courses

Confidence using a PC and Microsoft Windows is assumed. The specific Powerpoint knowledge and skills covered in this unit will be assumed in subsequent Powerpoint courses.

Course Duration

3.5 hours.

Competencies

  1. Using the new Powerpoint 2007 interface.
  2. Creating a basic presentation.
  3. Adding new layouts, themes, speaker notes.
  4. Understand the function of the Slide Master.
  5. Using the outline tab to edit presentations.
  6. Editing and proofing text in presentations.
  7. Printing slides and handouts.
  8. Formatting presentation text.
  9. Formatting bullets and numbers.
  10. Using slide sorter view.

Powerpoint 2007 : Level 2

Target Audience

This unit is aimed at staff and students who have a reasonable working knowledge of Powerpoint 2007, and require more training in the specific topics below.

Overview

This course builds on the competencies covered in Powerpoint 2007 : Level 1, including adding pictures, charts and tables, to presentations.

Prerequisite and Co-requisite Courses

This course assumes knowledge of all items covered in Powerpoint 2007 : Level 1. The knowledge and skills covered in this course will be assumed in the subsequent Powerpoint courses.

Course Duration

3.5 hours.

Competencies

  1. Editing multiple presentations
  2. Inserting and formatting pictures
  3. Inserting and formatting drawing objects (shapes, text boxes, etc)
  4. Running a slide show
  5. Creating basic charts
  6. Using tables
  7. Customizing presentations
  8. Inserting a photo album
  9. Using SmartArt

Powerpoint 2007 : Level 3

Target Audience

This unit is aimed at staff and students who have a good working knowledge of Powerpoint 2007, and require more training in the specific topics below.

Overview

This course builds on the competencies covered in Powerpoint 2007 : Level 2, including the use of animations, multimedia, custom shows, and Powerpoint Masters.

Prerequisite and Co-requisite Courses

This course assumes knowledge of all items covered in Powerpoint 2007 : Level 1 and Powerpoint 2007 : Level 2.
