International Admissions

Target Audience

This course is suitable for staff who are required to process applications received from international students. These areas include the International Office and the Graduate Centre.

Overview

The Admissions phase of the student life cycle involves processing and entering data from the application form, with system checklists being used to ensure that all tasks are completed. This course covers all data entry, the use of checklists and the final admission and matriculation of the student, which must be done before enrolment can occur in the student records module. Particular attention is paid to the special requirements for admission of international students, including application fees, external education information and test results, recruitment details and overseas organisations.

Prerequisite and Co-requisite Courses

Staff are required to have attended Express Reports before attending the International Admissions course.

Course Duration

3.5 hours.

Competencies

At the completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  1. Set operator defaults.
  2. Search for an applicant.
  3. Process a new admissions application.
  4. Record if an applicant is sponsored or short-listed for a scholarship.
  5. Assign an applicant to a student group.
  6. Enter an applicant’s residency status.
  7. Add an applicant’s external education data.
  8. Add an applicant’s test results.
  9. Enter an applicant’s references.
  10. Enter an applicant’s work experience.
  11. Record outstanding information.
  12. Enter an extra program preference.
  13. Process a second application.
  14. View a list of checklist items assigned to a staff member.
  15. Update a checklist item's status.
  16. Record an applicant's visa and passport details.
  17. Enter Advanced Standing for an applicant.
  18. Record sending an offer letter.
  19. Record acceptance or denial of an offer.
  20. Update an applicant's address details.
  21. Change an applicant's preferred name.
  22. Inquire on an applicant's details.
  23. Generate a variety of relevant reports.
  24. Enter an organisation.
  25. Link a department and contact person with an organisation.
  26. View a list of contact persons within an organisation.
  27. Auto evaluate international students.
