Microsoft Certified Application Specialist Assessment

Microsoft Office Specialist Authorised Testing Centre Becoming a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist shows employers and colleagues that you have proven skills in the use of Microsoft Office software. The qualification is recognized around the world.

What is available?

Certification is offered in the following packages:

  • Word 2007
  • Excel 2007
  • PowerPoint 2007
  • Access 2007
  • Outlook 2007

Achieving certification Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook qualifies you as a Microsoft Office 2007 Master.

What do I need to do?

To become a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, follow these steps:

  • Decide which application(s) are appropriate for you
  • Read the course outlines to see what training courses are appropriate for you. Click the following links for information about the content of the exams and suggested training options:
  • Attend training as required
  • Try a free practice assessment - click here to view available practice assessment sessions
  • Choose an assessment time
  • Telephone 8313 1000 to request your preferred session
  • The assessment is a hand-on practical test lasting around one hour. Assessments are held in the ITS Training Rooms, Level 9, 9 Gawler Place, Adelaide. You will be asked to provide photo ID, pay, register your details, then perform a series of tasks using the software in question. Online help is disabled and you are not permitted to take any materials with you into the exam, including manuals or pen and paper.
  • The exams are designed and scored over the Internet by Certiport, a US company. Once you have completed the assessment, you will receive a printout showing overall results as a percentage for each category of questions. 
  • If successful, you will receive a certificate by mail from Microsoft. If unsuccessful, you may resit the test at another time.

Costs

Each exam costs $55 for students and staff of the University of Adelaide or $85 for persons external to the university.

Payment is by credit card or cheque on the day (credit card preferred), or by internal transfer of funds (contact training staff for further information). Photo ID is required to confirm your identity.

Please note: for a limited time beginning in Semester 1, 2009 this fee will be waived for University of Adelaide staff and post-graduate students [conditions apply].
