Training Staff

We value your questions and suggestions relating to training options and this web site. For general inquries please contact the training team by email. All members of the training team teach a wide range of courses, but have developed areas of special interest.

Terry O'Donnell

Terry O'Donnell

Terry has a background in education with degrees in science and education and a Graduate Diploma in Computing. He currently trains in the finance and student administration systems, email, calendar, MyUni, RMSS, Legal Compliance and the MS Office suite. Terry has Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. He has a particular interest in the integration of University information systems with standard desktop applications such as MS Word and Excel.

Terry comes to the University with a strong background in education, both in secondary schools and TAFE. His degrees in science, arts and education, his Graduate Diploma in Computing & Information Science, and his lecturing in the area of databases provide a strong foundation for training in our information systems and desktop applications. He is a Microsoft Office 2003 Master Instructor with Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Terry trains in the finance and student administration systems, the TRIM records management system, Data Warehouse, email, calendar, MyUni and the MS Office suite.

Helen has worked as a librarian and Information & Publications Officer in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. She currently trains in the finance and student administration systems, Syllabus Plus, TRIM, email, calendar, MyUni, Managing Email Lists and the MS Office suite. Helen has attended specialised PeopleSoft training in the student financials system and is the reference person in this area. She has Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word and PowerPoint 2003 and Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification in Word 2007. With her degree in Information Management and her external experience in documentation, she can also provide advice on document management.

Fiona Mariner

Fiona has a background in education and information management with graduate diplomas both in Education and in Information Studies and a CELTA qualification. Prior to joining the training team she worked as an ESL teacher in Australia and overseas and also as a librarian with the University of Adelaide Library. Fiona currently trains in Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 as well as Oracle Calendar, ORBIT, Touchpaper, MyUni and the finance system (Purchasing). She also creates online content for various training courses.

Christie comes to the University with a wide range of training skills. Over the last eight years, she has worked in diverse roles including training and training management and has been instrumental in establishing a range of training services at the legal firms Minter Ellison, Piper Alderman and Blake Dawson Waldron. Christie’s primary training role here will revolve around the “Take Control of Your Email” course, a Service Excellence initiative. We also look forward to utilising her excellent skills with Office 2007, Oracle Calendar and other desktop applications.

Brigitte Sloot

Brigitte brings to the training team a range of information management and training skills from her time at the University of South Australia and Henley Beach Library. Her initial role in the team is to provide course development and training for the new Human Resources system, which will include new features for the staff online services area (Leave, Payroll and Banking).
