I am connected to wireless but having problems accessing the internet/with proxy configuration? In some cases there may be a need to change browser or system configuration proxy configuration to get the most out of the wireless network. Please visit our proxy page for more information. Does the University's wireless network cause any health issues? There are no known safety issues with the wireless equipment used by The University of Adelaide which is used in accordance with national regulations and installation guidelines. Detailed information about wireless networks and health, and about the wireless equipment the University uses, is available. The energy of the University's wireless LAN is 1/20th that of a mobile phone handset. The University's wireless equipment is normally several meters from any workstation which is considered to be safe according to the Australian guidelines and regulations. Compare that to somebody on a mobile phone call nearby - that is producing a much greater (but still considered safe) amount of radiated microwave energy. I use Windows 2000 and cannot get wireless to work, what can I do?The reason for this is that Windows 2000 does not support WPA encryption (security/authentication method) and additional software is required for successful connection to the 'UofA' network. Each laptop vendor provides different software that can be installed to allow Windows 2000 devices to connect; you will need to visit your Vendors page to find what is required. Please visit our support page for any assistance. I can't find the right Server Validation Certificate, what should I do? You may need to manually download and install the certificate. This can be done by clicking on the link below. Different operating systems can also display this certificate differently and the certificate may show up as "Go Daddy Class 2 Certificate Authority" or http://www.valicert.com/. The certificate can be trusted provided the error message detail contains the text "The server "radius.adelaide.edu.au" presented a valid certificate issued by "Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority" or "ValiCert, Inc", but "Go Daddy Class 2 Certificate Authority" is not configured as a valid trust anchor for this profile." Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority I have found my own workaround/information that might be useful to other users, who do I tell? Please report this information using the feedback form. We will review this information and make it available in the appropriate location. |
