General information

The University aims to minimise expenditure of resources on the supply and maintenance of desktop equipment for staff. To achieve this, the University has a Strategic Agreement with IBM Australia Ltd, IBM Global Finance Australia (IBMGFA) Ltd, and Datacom Systems SA, Pty Ltd. Datacom Systems SA is the equipment reseller, with IBMGFA providing leasing services.

Procedure - Acquisition

The University has a preferred supplier agreement with IBM and Datacom Systems SA. The University recommends that all hardware acquisitions for computers are made through Datacom Systems SA and that the hardware acquired meets the standards set by the University.

This web site outlines all the University standard hardware that has been approved and tested on the University network with the Universities business systems. ITS also provides a GOLD level of service for all hardware acquired via this web site.

If you have any questions about an alternative product pricing or support, please contact the ITS Helpdesk. The ITS Helpdesk is available for consultation in regards to purchasing non-standard equipment to meet particular requirements.

Please do not acquire non-standard hardware without first consulting ITS via the Helpdesk (08) 8303 3000 as this may result in a less than suitable product being acquired that may not function on the University network and may end up more expensive or may not function with University business applications.

Please also note that hardware/software not bought through Datacom Systems SA is untested by the University ITS department and is not guaranteed to work with the Standard Operating Environment (SOE). All items bought from Datacom Systems SA have been fully tested by ITS.

Procedure - Installation

Most installation and configuration of computers that are acquired through Datacom Sysytems SA will be performed upon delivery of the computer(s) unless otherwise stated.
