IT Accessory installation

There is a range of devices that you may wish to connect to your University Owned computer such as  palms, cameras and scanners. Technology Services will only provide support for these accessories if they

  • are purchased by the University,
  • are in use by a supported department, and
  • have a business purpose.

It is recommended that computer peripherals be purchased from Datacom Systems SA where possible, and that phone/PDAs be purchased via the Technology Service Desk 33000. 

All hardware purchased though Datacom Systems SA has been fully tested by Technology Services.  Non standard equipment not bought through Datacom Systems SA cannot be guaranteed to work on the University network.

Costs

Costs of installation are covered by SLAs.

Timelines

Technology Services aims to respond to all queries within 2 days. This type of query should be resolved within a further 6 days, but time may vary if device is non-University standard, and/or was not purchased via a University reseller.

This service is the responsibility of the Desktop Management Services team.
