Connecting a personally owned computer to the networkSometimes visitors or other people need to connect their personally owned computers to the University network. The network connection granted will enable the user to connect to the Internet, access Web Mail and print to a network printer via IP. If you have a personally owned computer there are a number of means of connecting to the University network:
Personal computer wired network connectionsWindows ComputersThe connection of personally owned computers running a Windows Operating System to the University network is offered via Datacom, with the following conditions:
CostsDatacom will add the computer to the network, and install/update the Virus Protection and update the operating system with latest patches, to meet the University standards, for a fee of $120 per hour (ex GST) or part there of, minimum charge of 1 hour. One-Way travel costs will be incurred for all sites (excluding North Terrace & Waite campus). TimelinesDepending on the severity and Datacom workload, this can take up to two weeks. Macintosh ComputerSupport for personally owned the Macintosh is performed by NextByte. Please complete "Authorization for Personal Access to the University Network" form.
