The Centre of Expertise in Photonics at the University of Adelaide has recently established state-of-the-art research laboratories for developing optical fibres. The Centre is now part of an exciting new Institute, the Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing (IPAS).

We require the knowledge and capabilities of a highly experienced researcher in the area of fibre lasers. You will focus on the experimental development of new classes of fibre laser for the near and mid-infrared, building on our existing capabilities for the design and fabrication of soft glass microstructured fibres and our soon-to-be installed silica fibre fabrication facility.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • PhD in the area of experimental laser physics and fibre laser research.
  • Extensive relevant postdoctoral research experience.
  • Demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals and international conferences.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research in addition to leading research teams and working effectively as a member of a research team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of working closely with industry and defence.
  • Outstanding track record in projects/program management.
  • Supervision of junior researchers.

Salary

(Level D) $108,009 per annum (plus an attractive annual increment increase).

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% also applies.

Term of Position

This fixed-term position is available immediately for a period of 5 years.
