We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-organised person with strong administrative skills and demonstrated experience in providing executive level support to committees. As Research Ethics Officer you will be responsible for the provision of secretarial support to the Animal Ethics Committee (Medical), including management of application processes, records and reporting. You will also be expected to provide advice and guidance to the University’s research community in relation to animal ethics.

Position Requirements

You should have:

  • understanding of the University sector and of related structures and processes in a research-oriented field
  • Demonstrated experience in servicing committees
  • Well developed (high level) written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated reliability in dealing with confidential matters
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement
  • Demonstrated capacity to evaluate and interpret complex rules, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications including database packages
  • Experience in ethics and compliance administration, including interpreting relevant rules, guidelines and legislation (desirable).

Salary

Full-time: (HEO6) $62,155 - $67,300 per annum (pro-rata0.5FTE).

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 9% applies.

Term of Position

This fixed-term, part-time (2.5 days a week, 0.5 FTE) position is available from 19 March 2012 until 31 January 2013.
