Weekend Services Librarian

A qualified librarian with a strong commitment to customer service and excellent communication skills is required to lead frontline Library weekend service provision to support University teaching and research activities.  The Weekend Services Librarian is required to provide information services to users on Saturdays and Sundays and as senior officer on duty, is responsible for all weekend library services, and for dealing with all non routine and complex enquiries.

Position hours vary; with base hours of 8 hours per week December – February, increasing to maximum weekly of 17 hours during teaching weeks.  Weekly hours include one shift per week during standard business hours.  The Weekend Services Librarian contributes to the Lending Services and Document Delivery department, working within a flexible, proactive and supportive environment.

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and train staff
  • Demonstrated ability to use a wide range of scholarly information and internet resources
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • University degree with a qualification giving eligibility for professional membership of ALIA.

Salary

Salary: (HEO5) $55,510 – 61,944 per annum, pro rata (0.2FTE) at 8 hours per week minimum, 17 hours per week during semester 1 and 2 teaching weeks.

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.
